Box Score (San Francisco) – San Francisco men's soccer put together one of its best efforts of the season and posted a 3-0 shutout win against San Jose Sate Sunday at Negoesco Stadium. The Dons (2-4-1) collect their first home win of the season at the expense of the Bay Area rival Spartans (3-2-3).
USF opened the scoring in the 29th minute as sophomore midfielder
Vegard Karlsen notched his first goal of the season off feeds from junior midfielder
Vinny Caloiaro and freshman midfielder

Miguel Aguilar scored his third goal of the season in the 58th minute off a give and go play from Caloiaro to a hard shot to the far post from 10 yards. Sophomore midfielder
Mauricio Diaz De Leon added his third scoring strike of the year in the 64th minute from freshman defender
David Romney. Aguilar and Diaz De Leon have each scored in their last two consecutive matches for the Green and Gold.
San Francisco held an 11-8 shots advantage, 6-2 after the intermission. The Spartans attempted eight corner kicks to just four for the Dons. Diaz De Leon fired a match-high four attempts for USF.
Junior goalkeeper
Brendan Roslund (2-3-1) collected his first shutout of the season and made four saves for the Dons. Jonathan Lester (3-2-3) suffered the loss for the Spartans and made three saves before being sent off in the 85th minute.
San Francisco opens the 2011 West Coast Conference season when it hosts the Pacific Northwest contingent beginning Friday, September 30 against Gonzaga. Match time against the Bulldogs is set for 7:00 PM from Negoesco Stadium.
