Game Notes

SAN FRANCISCO—
The Dons come into the second half of the West Coast Conference  schedule playing with a renewed confidence and they believe can propel them to a conference championship.

San Francisco (5-7-2, 2-3-1) currently sits in sixth place with seven points but is within two points of four other teams trail and only trail first place Loyola Marymount by six points. They can make up for lost ground quickly this weekend when they host San Diego and Loyola Marymount.

The Dons played Stanford last week without starters Christian De Luna and Kevin Gould and were still able to hang around before dropping the 2-1 contest in overtime. Jesus Del Toro scored his third goal of the season in the loss.

GOALKEEPING REMAINS STRONG
Connor Gaal and Chase Hauser continue to share the goalkeeping duties and have combined to hold a GAA of 1.10 with a save percentage of .814. Hauser is 13th in the nation in saves per game with 5.38 and Gaal has a save percentage of .897 with a team-high three shutouts.

Gaal has made the last three starts against conference opponents and allowed one goal in the matches against LMU and San Diego two weeks ago. The Dons are 4-2-0 in starts made by the redshirt freshman.

OVERTIME OPPORTUNITIES
The Dons turn up the intensity in overtime contests and have outshot their opponents 15-8 in the extra periods. San Francisco is 1-1-2 in overtime matches.

DEL TORO PROVIDES SPARK
The sophomore from Novato, Calif. has made only two starts this season but has provided much needed energy off the Dons' bench. He now has a team-high three goals on the season after scoring one goal in his freshman campaign.

LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD
USF has six conference games remaining and will have three at home beginning this weekend. The regular season will end with a trip to the Pacific Northwest where they will take on Gonzaga and Portland.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO (4-6-4, 0-3-3)
San Francisco coasted its way to the 2-0 victory over the Toreros two weeks ago but things have changed for San Diego in that time. The Toreros pulled a massive upset over the weekend when they defeated No. 1 Cal 1-0. Connor Brandt was named the WCC Player of the Week after scoring the game-winner in the 53rd minute. Momentum from that game could play a factor on Friday afternoon.

ABOUT LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (8-3-2, 4-1-1)
The Dons saw the Lions two weeks ago and nearly pulled away with a win. A late goal off a deflected free kick was the difference and the Dons are hoping that breaks like that go in their favor in the second matchup. Adrien Perez leads the team in goals with five and is tied for the team lead in points with 14. John McFarlin also has 14 points with a team-high eight assists.
