SAN FRANCISCO—The Dons bounced back to get a hard fought win on Sunday and now carry that momentum into this weekend when they face Sacramento State and UC Davis on the road.

"In four games we've played anything from LIU, one side of the specter, to one of the best teams in the country, Cal," Head Coach Erik Visser said. "In our first four games, I think the team has proven to itself that we can play with any team and it comes down to consistency and finding ways to win."

USF (3-1-0) got goals from Jesus Del Toro and Danny Kirkland against San Jose State. It was Kirkland's second of the season.

The Dons beat Sacramento State 2-1 in last year's clash and got goals from Mauricio Diaz De Leon and Michael Shaddock. It was a heated match with six yellow cards being handed out and USF is coming out of a match against San Jose State where six yellows and a red card were issued

The Hornets (1-1-1) have scored twice in its three matches and are coming off a rough weekend where they fell to CSU Bakersfield 3-0 and tied with Seattle 1-1. The match is the final game in a three-game homestand.

Goalkeeper Cesar Castillo is third in program history with 10 career shutouts and is fifth in career saves.

"We will see how hardened we can be on the road," Visser said. "I think it's a great preparation for conference."

UC Davis (1-3-0) will be at West Coast Conference rival Saint Mary's on Thursday. The Aggies have been shutout three times in four games.

USF goalies Connor Gaal and Chase Hauser have each played two matches and have allowed one goal apiece.

This is the start of a three-game road trip for USF, which will also include a trip to Cal Poly on Sept. 20.
