SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—San Francisco was constantly put under pressure by the Cal Poly offense and it cost them as the Mustangs scored two goals in a matter of minutes and went on to take the contest 2-0 on Friday night.

The Dons (3-3-1) defense was keeping Cal Poly at bay for much of the first half but defensive breakouts gave the Mustangs multiple chances at the goal.

Chase Minter found a crease in the USF defense and had a clear look at the goal but his shot went just over the crossbar, keeping the match scoreless. Less than a minute later, Minter was in the middle of another goal scoring chance and this time Cal Poly (5-2-0) capitalized.

In the 45th minute, Minter raced down the left sideline and was able to find Justin Dhillon just outside of the box who tapped it to Chris Bernardi, who drilled a kick past Hauser for the goal.

Cal Poly got away 11 shots in the first half and four in the final five minutes. Hauser, who transferred to USF from Cal Poly in the spring, made four saves in the half.

The Dons were not without their own chances in the first half. In the 36th minute, Joshua Smith received a pass from Sixto Porras inside the penalty box but had his header go wide to the right.

In the 50th minute, Mike Hocker was able to find Connor Drechsler for the header and it gave the Mustangs a commanding 2-0 lead.

Cal Poly kept up the aggressive play and finished outshooting the Dons 25-9 and had six different players put shots on goal.

It is the second straight match San Francisco has been shutout and in both games it has not had more than 10 shots.

The decision wraps up a three-game road trip and the Dons will have two weeks to prepare for the beginning of West Coast Conference play, which begins with their match with Portland on Oct. 4.
