BERKELEY, Calif.—In their first test of the preseason, the Dons came out firing with goals from Jesus Del Toro and Davi Ramos to defeat No. 7 California 2-1 in regulation during their scrimmage Wednesday night.

It was Head Coach Eddie Soto's first game at the helm of the program.

The Dons got it started when two newcomers were able to connect with a little of help from a one of the team's seasoned veterans. In the ninth minute, freshman Manny Padilla was in the right flat and found Davi Ramos on a cross for the header, which was saved, but Jesus Del Toro was there to clean up and give the Dons a 1-0 lead.

The junior, Del Toro, was tied for the team lead in goals with three last season.

Cal drew even in the 25th minute on a tap in goal from Max Oldham.

San Francisco struck again late in the contest when in the 72nd minute David Garrett was wide right and he found Ramos at the top of the box who drilled it for the goal in the bottom left corner.

Ramos, a sophomore transfer from North Carolina State, picked up three points in his first contest.

The coaching staffs decided to play an extra 20 minutes following regulation to give extra playing time for the reserves, in which Cal tied the match 2-2.
