TAMPA, Fla. – Davi Ramos just missed a penalty kick and Jordan Hughes hit the post, but USF was unable to find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss at South Florida on Saturday afternoon at Corbett Stadium.

South Florida (1-3-2) struck first when Nazeem Bartman scored in the 24th minute, redirecting a cross into the left corner from the top of the 6-yard box.

Ramos had a chance to even the score when he lined for a penalty kick try in the 40th minute, but his shot was stopped by South Florida keeper Spasoje Stefanovic to preserve the 1-0 South Florida lead.

The Bulls added to their lead in the final minutes of the first half as Stephen Rudderham took a long pass and dribbled through the USF defense to score from just outside the 6-yard box.  

After registering just two shots in the first half, the Dons (2-3-0) came out firing in the second frame, tallying 11 attempts to South Florida's two. One of those was a chance off the foot of Hughes in the 61st minute that glanced off the post inches from putting the Dons on the board.

Overall, USF held a 14-9 edge in shots, with five of their attempts on goal, while South Florida registered three shots on frame.

Andre Glasnovic recorded one save in goal for the Dons, with his counterpart Stefanovic tallying five saves on the day.

This was the first meeting between these teams since 1992.

UP NEXT: The Dons return home for a pair of matches at Negoesco Stadium next weekend. USF will host Cal State Fullerton on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. matinee against Air Force on Sunday.
