MSOC | Dons Conclude Regular Season Play with 5-2 Loss

LOS ANGELES — It was fierce matchup between San Francisco and Loyola Marymount as both teams recorded a total of six goals in the second half. It was the Lions goal in the first period and four in the second that set the tone over the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (6-10-1, 4-3 WCC), suffering a 5-2 loss to end its regular season finale at Sullivan Field, Saturday night.

After coming off a 1-0 lead in the first half, Loyola Marymount (6-12-0, 3-3 WCC) extended it to 2-0 after Dylan Shockey kicked it far from the right side to CJ Neville in the center of the box as he punched it in at the 54th minute mark.

It was the duo Santiago Digiuseppe and Sean Bowman who teamed up and put the Dons on the board. Digiuseppe crossed it from the left side as Bowman took advantage and kicked the ball straight into the net to trail the Lions, 2-1. Bowman recorded his sixth goal of the season.

LMU retaliated at the 64th minute mark, when the Lion's Kris Fourcand headed the ball into the net after a direct pass from the right side from teammate Shockey to lead 3-1. The Lions extended its lead even further after both Matthew Goode and Shockey broke away up the right side, crossing it to Jack Sauls for the punch into the net for the 4-1 lead.

In the matter of two minutes, Sandro Bradara was called up for a penalty kick and executed beautifully to cut the lead 4-2, but Loyola Marymount suddenly escaped with another goal at the 73rd minute mark by Antonio Porreco who received a quick pass from Brandon Sanchez to secure the 5-2 victory. The match ended the West Coast Conference regular season play for both teams.
