SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Francisco men's soccer team played close with San Jose State Monday, but the Spartans eventually pulled away in the second half, defeating the Dons, 4-1, at Spartan Soccer Field.

The Dons (2-2-1) got their own header goal from Noah Leong in the 15th minute to tie the game at 1-1, just 102 seconds after the Spartans (2-3-1) had taken a 1-0 lead with a header goal in the 14th minute. Matt Orr assisted on the goal, but it would be the only one that USF would get in the match.

San Jose State took the lead for good in the 36th minute on a goal from Willy Miranda via Andrew Mendoza, giving it a 2-1 advantage. The Spartans built on their lead in the second half, making it 3-1 in the 66th minute when Omar Lemus took a pass on the right side from Jonathan Partida and shot it inside the right post. SJSU sealed the victory with its fourth goal of the night in the 83rd minute, as Miranda tallied his second goal of the evening, burying a rebounded shot off the post.

San Francisco continues its three-match road trip on Friday and Sunday with games at Air Force and Denver, respectively. Fans can find all live coverage links on USFDons.com.
