SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco men's soccer team returns home for two matches versus UC Irvine and Sacramento State on Thursday and Sunday at Negoesco Stadium. 

LAST TIME OUT 
The Dons (2-4-1) fell in three matches last week, with two of those being nationally ranked opponents. On Sept. 10 San Jose State pulled away in the second half, defeating the Dons, 4-1. Noah Leong's header into the back of the net tied the game, 1-1, just 102 seconds after the Spartans had taken a 1-0 lead with a header goal in the 14th minute. San Jose State took the lead for good at the 36th minute and built on their advantage in the second half, making it 3-1 in the 66th minute and sealed the victory with its fourth goal of the night at the 83rd mark. 

After taking an early lead on the road Friday night against No. 23 Air Force was able to come from behind with two first half goals and a strong defensive stand in the second half to win a top-25 battle, 2-1. The Dons struck first in the 8th minute from Matt Orr's unassisted goal, but the Falcons tied the game very quickly just 2 1/2 minutes later. Air Force went ahead for good in the 24th minute after a header shot into the back of the net. The goal put the Falcons ahead 2-1 the rest of the match. 

On Sunday, the Dons fell to No. 5 Denver, 3-0, as the Pioneers senior Andre Shinyashiki scored all three of their goals that started at the 54th minute when Shinyashiki headed the ball into the goal from the top of the box off a corner kick. Denver continued to extend its lead the rest of the second period. 

ABOUT THE DONS
The Dons fell in three tough matches last week pushing their record to 2-4-1. Sean Bowman and Santiago Digiuseppe lead the Dons with two goals apiece. Matt Orr, Noah Leong and Cameron Martin tally a goal apiece. The Dons lead with a 43.7 shots on goal percentage over its opponents 35.3. 

ABOUT UC IRVINE 
The Anteaters (5-2-1) took down both its opponents last week,  Pomona-Pitzer, 4-0, and Brown 3-0. Jose Oritz leads the team with five goals, scoring his fifth in the victory over Brown. Alvaro Quezada and Ivan Canales also guide the Anteaters with three goals apiece. UC Irvine's 40.2 SOG percentage outshoots its opponents 32.1. 

ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE
The Hornets (1-4-2) fell in three matches to San Jose State, Cal, and Saint Mary's also including a tie against Pacific in the past two weeks. Opponents outshoot Sacramento 45.0 to 39.7 percent as the Hornets shoot 8.3 shots per game. Dominic Scotti leads his team with four goals followed by Benji Kikanovic who has three.
