MSOC | Dons Fall to Loyola Marymount in Final Game of the Season

SAN FRANCISCO - The University of San Francisco men's soccer team wrapped up its season at home with a game against Loyola Marymount on Saturday night. The Dons honored six seniors in their final game at Negoesco Stadium but USF ultimately fell 0-2.

"I think we saw, especially towards the middle of the season and towards the end, a team who is going to leave it all out on the field, work as hard as they can, and fight and claw their way to stay in the games," said head coach Leonard Griffin. "If we continue to have that fight and build on it, we are going to be in really good shape going into the future and I am really excited about that."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the first 45 minutes, LMU got an early lead over the Dons with two goals. LMU had two more shots on goal but redshirt junior Jay Roundtree came in for the save both times.
  • Freshman Connor McAuslan had a chance to put the Dons on the board, but the shot was saved by LMU's goalkeeper in the first half. The Dons and LMU were tied in shots at 6-6 by the end of the first half.
  • To start the second half, the Dons came out strong in their attack, taking shots on goal in the 48th and 50th minute. The Dons out-shot LMU 10-5 in the second period, 16-11 overall.
  • The Dons tied with LMU in saves during the night at 5-5, but the Dons couldn't come through with any goals in the second half and the game came to an end.
