SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The University of San Francisco's men's tennis team was dealt a 6-1 defeat against Fresno State on Friday afternoon at the California Club.
San Francisco (3-6) collected just one victory in singles, when
Nitzan Ricklis at No. 2 dominated Bulldogs' Angus Bradshaw in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Ricklis leads the team with a 5-1 singles record.
The Dons battled in doubles competition and left each match shy away from grabbing a victory. The pairing of Romeo Jivraj and
Phuc Huynh fell close to Zdenek Derkas and Cem Erturk, 6-4 at No. 2.
Ryan Marker and Paul Giruad was aggressive, but couldn't execute at the end against Patrik Pech and Mantas Bugailskis, 6-4. At No.3, the duo of
Nitzan Ricklis and
Oz Daniel lost in a close deuce match against the Bulldogs' pairing of Cagatay Soke and Angus Bradshaw, 7-5.
San Francisco will begin WCC play on the road against Saint Mary's on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m.
