MSOC | Dons Settle For 0-0 Draw against Cal Poly

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The University of San Francisco men's soccer team put their best efforts out on the field tonight, but could not find a goal after a majority of possessions and chances. The Dons settled for a 0-0 draw against Cal Poly on Monday night at Negoesco Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Tonight's match put the Dons record at 2-6-1 and the Mustangs at 4-3-1.
  • Eight different Dons recorded a shot or more, with Ashish Chattha leading the team with three shots and Zyan Andrade, Haakon Aase, and Jaidon Reynolds added two apiece. Cal Poly led the match with 14 shots and six on goal.
  • At the 71st minute, Andrade looked to have the game winning goal when he blasted it from outside of the box and was saved by Mustangs' keeper Carlos Arce-Hurtado. 
  • In both overtime periods, Andrade was the only Don to tally a shot attempt at the 106th minute mark. Alejandro Muñoz made his first collegiate appearance and caught a career-high six saves. The Dons took seven corner kicks allowing chances to score, but the Mustangs held onto their fierce defense.  

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
3: Three Dons played the full 110 minutes: Nathan Simeon, Jake Serpa and Muñoz. 
6 and 14: Muñoz recorded a career-high six saves and 14 shots faced.
6: Both teams combined for six yellow cards. 
7: The Dons took seven corners to just two from the Mustangs.
