SAN FRANCISCO - Back-to-Back home games are slated for the University of San Francisco women's tennis team this weekend, starting tomorrow with a match against Nevada. The Dons will then face UC Davis the following day. Friday's match is set for noon and Saturday's match will begin at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
USF had a doubleheader against Montana and Arizona last weekend that resulted in a 4-0 win against the Grizzlies but a 4-0 loss against the Wildcats.
To start the day,
Rita Colyer and
Arianna Capogrosso started the match with a 6-3 win in doubles. USF saw another 6-3 win from pair
Mya Bui and
Emily Maxfield, and the Dons clinched the doubles point.
Momentum continued on through singles as Maxfield and Capogrosso recorded 6-1, 6-3 wins on their courts. Colyer defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the win over Montana.Â
Following their victory over Montana, the Dons faced Arizona, but ultimately fell 4-0.
The Dons had a 6-3 win from Bui and Maxfield in doubles, but the Wildcats also recorded a win to tie up the score. Ultimately, Arizona won the doubles point.
The 4-0 match win went to Arizona when the Dons struggled to get a win in singles.Â
SERIES VS. NEVADA
The Dons have a 3-4 record against Nevada. The last time the two schools faced off was in 2019 when USF had a 4-3 victory over Nevada.
The match started with a dropped doubles point from the Dons, but they rallied back in singles when Bui and Maxfield had 6-3, 7-5 wins on their courts. Former Don
Hanna Borjeson followed in suit with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win to tie up the match and former Don
Margarita Treyes clinched the match for her team with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win on her court.
Currently, Nevada is 5-5 on the season and is coming off a 4-3 loss against Sacramento State.
SERIES VS. UC DAVIS
In the 2018-2019 season, the Dons faced UC Davis on the road that ended in a 4-3 victory. The Dons lead the series over the Aggies, 7-5.
During the match, the Dons had a on
Amber Del Rosario's court as she won her match 6-1, 6-4. USF also saw wins from Maxfield (6-4, 6-4) and
Alexa Meyer (4-6, 6-4, 6-4), and the day ended in a victory for the Dons.
UC Davis is 5-8 on the current season.

The Dons begin WCC play on March 13 against San Diego at the Olympic Club. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
