USF Welcomes Gonzaga to Negoesco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Fresh off of their first shutout of the fall, the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (2-7-1, 0-1-1) will aim to keep their momentum going when they welcome Gonzaga (6-6-0, 1-1-0) to Negoesco Stadium on Saturday evening.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Last time out, the Dons took down Omaha, 1-0, on the road for their first victory away from home this season and their second nonconference win of the year. Notably, Tuesday's shutout of the Mavericks marked USF's first since Mar. 21 of last spring in a 1-0 home victory over Pacific. In the match, goalkeeper Brandon Keniston logged his first shutout as a Don as he tallied five saves for the second consecutive match and the third time in his four appearances this fall.
  • Heading into Saturday, four different Dons have found the back of the net so far this season: Nonso Adimabua (4), Gabriel Bracken Serra (2), Shayan Charalaghi (2) and Tobias Wangerud (1). Overall, Adimabua's four goals are tied for second in the WCC.
  • As a team, USF is tied for fifth in the conference with 40 combined saves from Keniston, Charlie McKay and CJ Pycior.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
  • In their last action on the pitch, Gonzaga was shutout, 3-0, at home against Washington on Saturday, Oct. 16. Despite the loss, goalkeeper Johan Garibay logged eight saves for the Bulldogs.
  • Offensively, Gonzaga ranks fourth in the WCC as a team in total points (44) while forward Demitrius Kigeya is tied with Adimabua for second with four goals. Additionally, Kigeya is also solely in second place in the conference with 11 total points.
  • In the cage, Garibay has impressed as one of the top goalkeepers in the WCC as he currently leads the conference with 56 saves. Impressively, the Stockton, Calif. native also ranks fifth in save percentage (.767) and goals against average (1.41). 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Since Oct. 2006, USF currently holds an 11-2-2 record against the Bulldogs, which includes a 1-0 shutout victory in Spokane in their previous meeting on Feb. 28, 2021.
