PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif. -- Returning to the court for a unique one day event, the USF Dons men's and women's tennis programs combined to compete against Santa Clara's men's and women's teams in the South Bay at Alpine Hills Tennis and Swim Club. 

It was a very good day for the Dons team as the student-athletes from each side defeated the Broncos in every category for the unique preseason event. This was the first year of this new and unique event playing under the World Team Tennis format. 

USF came away with a 22-14 overall win through the format as the bested Santa Clara in men's singles, women's singles, mixed doubles, women's doubles and bonus time. Stevie Gould got the action started on the men's side with a 5-3 win over the Broncos' Arthur Neuhaus while Simran Chhabra was able to continue the Dons' momentum by besting Varya Zlotnik by a 5-0 margin.

Turning to doubles, Chiho teamed up with Chiho Mushika to best Zlotnik and JennaMarie Gordon by a 5-3 margin to give the Dons another point. In a unique twist to the event, the Dons and Broncos paired up for mixed doubles as Maria Martinez Vaquero and Hoffmann teamed up to take down Gordon and Santiago Hinojosa by a 5-3 score. 

The mixed doubles competition is the first time USF has competed under that format during the 2022 fall season.
