LOS ANGELES, Calif. - With a resoundingly successful non-conference season behind them, the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (6-1-2) is hitting the road this weekend as the Dons head down to Southern California to take on the Loyola Marymount Lions (6-2-2) to begin West Coast Conference play on Saturday night.
The Dons did a tremendous job of taking care of business to begin their season as they were undefeated through the first eight matches of the season. Powered by an aggressive offense combined with stellar back line defense, USF has already tripled their win total from a season ago.
A key piece to the Dons' offensive success this season has been the tremendous aggression and passing of forward
Nathan Simeon, whose eight assists this season not only lead the WCC but also the entire nation.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Heading into the conference portion of their schedule, goalkeeper Eric Waltz has been a star in goal for the Dons throughout the season as the junior was recently honored as the WCC's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year. Last week, Waltz tallied seven saves across two matches for USF, which included the game-winning save on the road at Sacramento State on Thursday, Sept. 22.
- The balance in USF's offensive attack has been instrumental in the team's success this season as five student-athletes have scored at least three goals so far this season: Dominic Valdivia, Arjan Dosanjh, Max Hamelink, Andri Jonasson and Max Chretien.
- Among other WCC schools, only undefeated Portland (25) has scored more goals than USF (19) this season. On the defensive side of the ball, USF has allowed on six goals in nine matches, good for first in the conference and tied for twentieth in Division I.
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
- Loyola Marymount has enjoyed a strong non-conference season as well as they've lost just twice through their first 10 matches. Mutual non-conference opponents between LMU and USF include Sacramento State, Cal State Fullerton and Seattle with the Dons having defeated all three of those programs this season.
- Graduate student forward Adam Davie will be someone the Dons' defense will try to key in on and attempt to limit his impact on Saturday's match, as he's the Lions' leading goal scorer so far this season having found the back of the net five times in 2022.
- On the defensive side, redshirt senior goalkeeper Mitchell Wilson has played every minute of the Lions' first 10 matches this season while being tied with Waltz for second in the WCC with 32 saves through the non-conference portion of the schedule.
SERIES HISTORY:
- The Lions lead the all-time series between the two programs by a 12-9-1 record and won last season's match 1-0 on the Hilltop. The Dons' last win over LMU came during the 2017 season when they picked up the 2-1 victory during the 2017 season.
