DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • In their last match on Sept. 10, San Francisco collected a win against Bay Area rival California as the Dons blanked the Golden Bears by a final score of 3-0. Eric Waltz secured his second shutout of the season with one save on one shot on goal from the Bears. He now stands tied for first in the WCC with two shutouts per game.
  • Gabriel Bracken Serra recorded his first collegiate brace against California, putting him at four goals and one assist for a total of nine points on the season. His performance on Sept. 10 earned him WCC Offensive Player of the Week honors as he is now tied for first in the conference in goals scored.
  • In their earlier matchup last week against CSU Bakersfield, the Dons outshot the Roadrunners 18-5. San Francisco is currently leading the WCC in total shots as a team as they have impressed by outshooting their opponents 100-33 so far this season.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES:
  • Last week, UC Davis faced two WCC opponents, coming out with a draw against No. 24 LMU before falling 1-0 to Pacific. Against the Lions, the Aggies went down by one goal early, but came back to even it to 1-1 with a late goal in the second half by senior Ethan Hoard, an All-Big West Honorable mention from the 2022 season.
  • Offensively, sophomore Cason Goodman started off the year strong by scoring one goal in three consecutive games ase he currently leads the team with six points and 12 shots over five games.
  • In goal for the Aggies, Charles Janssen has started and played every minute of the season thus far while making 19 saves along the way. Against LMU, the redshirt junior matched his season-high of seven saves on 13 shots faced.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS:
  • Going into the new week with a split record of three wins and three losses, the Hornets are currently tied for second in the Big West in goals scored (11) and are first in saves (35) through six games with junior Mac Learned recording 31 of those saves.
  • Leading the charge offensively, junior Dominic Vegaalban, who scored his first collegiate hat trick in their win over Pacific on Sept. 7, has the most points on the team with eight total on four goals this season.
  • In their dominating 5-2 win against the Tigers, Bryan Gutierrez made his own mark as he recorded two back-to-back strikes in the first half, both which were assisted by Genaro Alfaro.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • In their last matchup on Sept. 22, 2021, the Aggies took a 4-1 win over the Dons at their home field. Notably, San Francisco has not lost a game at Negoesco Stadium in recent years, collecting one win and two ties at home as UC Davis leads the head-to-head series since 2012 with a record of 4-1-2.
  • Since 2011, the series record between the Dons and the Hornets is 3-3-1. Most recently, the Dons came away with a 2-1 win on Sept. 22, 2022 while playing in Sacramento.
