Our community continues to mourn the sudden passing of USF Director of Athletics Larry Williams, who died Oct. 16.
We invite you to join us for a Mass celebrating his life at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, in Saint Ignatius Church. Fr. Donal Godfrey, S.J., will celebrate the Mass. A reception will follow in the McLaren Conference Center.
Larry is survived by his wife, Laura, their children Kristin, Sean, Scott, Eric, and Louis, their families, and his grandchildren.
Appointed in August 2022, Larry joined USF after serving as athletic director at the University of Portland. He was born in California and graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where he was a two-time All-American football player. Drafted by the Cleveland Browns out of Notre Dame, he played for eight years in the NFL, including stints with the New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots. While he was competing in the NFL, he earned a law degree from the University of San Diego. After retiring from pro football in 1993, he practiced law for the Indianapolis-based law firm of Baker & Daniels, before returning to Notre Dame in 1999 to work on licensing and product marketing.
