San Francisco Athletics Celebrates Noteworthy Success at 39th Annual Genesis USF Swanson Memorial Golf Tournament

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The 39th Annual Genesis USF Swanson Memorial Golf Tournament was a resounding success for the University of San Francisco Athletics department recently on Monday, May 5.

Hosted by department staff at the world-renowned Olympic Club in San Francisco, the event was a great day of fellowship and celebration of San Francisco Athletics as guests mingled with student-athletes, staff, and coaches. Highlights of the fun-filled day included guests participating on the Par 3 Cliffs Shootout, stroke play on the Lakes Course, shamble format on the Ocean Course as well as many enjoying the legendary burger dogs at Hot Dog Bill's followed by a first-class buffet and reception.

"The 39th Annual Genesis USF Swanson Memorial Golf Tournament was a fantastic day of fellowship and celebration of all things USF," said Director of Athletics Larry Williams. "The first-class golf, perfect weather, and the hospitality of the Olympic Club made this a most memorable event. Our thanks for the support of Genesis, our tee sponsors, and participants whose generosity provides support to enhance the experience of our student-athletes."

Overall, the tournament saw 41 total foursomes compete in the tournament, 27 of which competed on the Lake Course while the other 14 competed on the Ocean Course.

Set at one of the premier locations in the country, guests enjoyed a beautiful sunny day followed by a full buffet and open bar inside the clubhouse. Once inside after completing their rounds, guests enjoyed words from Williams. The distribution of awards included the putting contest winner, individual winners on the Lake Course and the Cliffs Course and team winners on the Ocean Course as well as closest to the pin, longest drive and most accurate drive on both courses.

Prizes at the reception included gift cards from Original Joe's and Sushi Bistro in addition to over 20 other golf courses supporting the event by providing complimentary foursomes at their courses. Derek Fett won the Genesis grand prize at the reception, which included tickets to the 2026 Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The tournament raised a significant amount of funds that will be used to elevate each program in their desire to achieve success at the highest level.
