BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The University of San Francisco men's soccer team (1-1) came out strong in the first half on Sunday night, but No. 11 Indiana (1-0-1) ultimately defended its home field by mounting a second half comeback to secure a 3-2 win over the Dons.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco took a 1-0 lead when Brayden Beason scored his first goal of the season in the seventh minute, assisted by Chris Maldonado and Ben Norris.
- The Dons tacked on another score on a goal from David Raphael off a penalty kick in the 18th minute to make it 2-0 in favor of the green and gold.
- Indiana got on the board to make it a 2-1 match on Jacopo Fedrizzi's goal in the 38th minute, assisted by Collins Oduro.
- The Hoosiers tied it up at 2-2 with a goal in the 46th minute from Fedrizzi, assisted by Oduro. Indiana took a 3-2 lead on Easton Bogard's goal in the 69th minute, assisted by Nolan Kinsella. The goal proved to be all Indiana would need as the Hoosiers held on to take down San Francisco by a final score of 3-2.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Both Maldonado and Norris notched assists for the second straight game to begin the new season.
- William Krause recorded three saves for the Dons out of 11 total Hoosiers shots.
- Saint Mary's transfer Owen Benson made his debut for the green and gold on Sunday, playing 18 minutes for San Francisco.
