For a time it seemed that the reserves had learned to work together. Feliciano began the deluge with a left-footed shot from the right side of the field. Salvador Ochoa scored the Dons fourth goal on a 30 yard shot from the right corner. Before the visiting team could settle down from their previous setbacks, Shah Dehghan and Larry Dineen smashed in two more 10-yard shots from the left and right sides of the field respectively. USF struck "pay-dirt" for the final time when Dehghan shoved in a rebounding shot from the foot of Leon Heitman.

With only a few minutes remaining in the contest, the Dons, although they had dominated the whole game, remained tied with the Spartans. Alex Roboostoff again came through with a clutch goal to break the tie when he took a pass from Leon Heitmann, and booted it 26 yards into the goal. Seconds later, Ted Psaras iced the game when he picked up a loose ball in front of the San Jose goal, and kicked it five yards into the goal (TheFoghorn).
