JanHelge Schiefloe scored the winning goal for the Dons, and Jess DeGuzman added an insurance score. The Dons throttled the helpless USD team with apparent ease. Every aspect of the game was impressive for the home team. In sharp contrast to Saturday's game, the Dons played with a high pressure attack. It paid off tremendously, as they had shots left and right. Against a quality opponent, this was one of the best games of the year for USF, and it couldn't have come at a better time.

The Dons have more stars. Back are midfielders Thierry Blanson and Rogert Magalháes, who are both coming off their most productive years at USF, steady Martin Ivarson, who anchored the defense last year after Nielsen went down with an injury, and JanHelge Schiefloe, who played up to three positions last year, signal that the Dons defense will be star-studded.

The Dons went on to win the Classic the next day with a tie against host U.S. International. As for the other games the Dons have played recently, they beat Stanford 3-1 on a pair of goals by Kit Halverson and an insurance goal from "Daiquari" Don Murphy. In another Pacific Soccer Conference game, the Dons mauled San Jose State 5-0 on goals by Murphy, Boardman, Halverson, Tor Sveen, and JanHelge Schiefloe.

Next the Dons traveled to Moraga and St. Mary's to trounce the Gaels 3-0. Ivar Stronsmo scored two goals and Schiefloe added another. The Dons are now 5-1 in the PSC, and have already clinched the title and a berth to the National tournament and a chance at the National Championship. Coming up on the calendar for the Dons is the West Coast Athletic Conference Tournament this weekend at Negoesco Field. USF has won the tourney four of the five years since its inauguration (TheFoghorn).
