San Francisco Falls to Saint Mary's In Moraga

(Moraga) - Bailey Barbour scored 11 points off the bench Thursday as the University of San Francisco women's basketball team dropped a 64-42 decision to host Saint Mary's at McKeon Pavilion in Moraga, Calif. The game marked the second straight game Barbour has posted 10 or more points.

San Francisco (3-13, 1-2 WCC) and Saint Mary's (12-4, 3-0 WCC) played evenly in the opening 15 minutes of the first half. The Dons held a five-point 13-8 lead at 11:17, before the Gaels began to slowly chip away. Saint Mary's closed the half on a 16-2 run, holding USF scoreless over the final 3:24 of the half.

USF posted five quick points to open the second half, but SMC wouldn't back down, going on a 17-0 run. The seven minute long run was broken up at 8:31 with a jumper by Barbour. Barbour and Mel Khlok would then combine for eight straight unanswered USF points.

Barbour led the Dons with her 11 points and six rebounds. She also added a team-high four blocks, an assist and a steal. The four blocks mark a career-high.

Freshman Aundrea Gordon added eight points for the Dons, while Taj Winston recorded six. Savannah Erskine scored five, and senior Rheina Ale added four.

Jasmine Smith, who scored 15 points and earned four steals, led Saint Mary's.

San Francisco returns to action Saturday as it hosts Brigham Young at War Memorial Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will mark the first time the two schools have met as conference opponents.
