Just the Facts, Ma'am
  • After the biggest swing from loss to win in back-to-back games in the history of San Francisco's women's basketball program, the Dons (5-4) are  riding high after posting a 93-43 win over Notre Dame de Namur in its last outing. This follows a 50-point defeat at the hands of Cal State Northridge; the 90-point swing in consecutive games is the largest since the era of official NCAA women's basketball statistics began in 1981-82.
  • San Jose State dropped to 3-6 on the year it its last game, falling to Santa Clara 62-47 at home. In that contest, the Sparans shot 23.8 percent from the field, to see its lowest field goal percentage and total points of the season.

In It to Win It
  • USF's 5-4 start is the best start to a season since the Jennifer Azzi era began in 2010-11.  The last time the Dons were above the .500 mark nine games into the season was 2007-08, when USF finished 14-16 overall and notched its last double-digit win tally on the year.

Know the Foe
  • San Jose State sports a small but stout roster, with only eight women eligible to play the 2012-13 campaign. A ninth, Paris Baird, is redshirting the season to give the Spartans a short bench.
  • San Jose State is led by Ta'Rea Cunnigan's 20.2 points and 4.4 steals per game. Her steal per game average is good for first in the Western Athletic Conference and a tie for second in the nation, behind Duquesne guard Jocelyn Floyd's 5.3 a game and tied with Central Connecticut's Jaclyn Babe. Cunnigan's scoring mark is good for 21st in the nation, currently.
  • Cunnigan is the only returner from last season's Spartans roster and San Jose State  sits as the youngest team in all of NCAA Division I women's college basketball.

USF and San Jose State – The Series
  • With the exception of but a few interspersed years, the Dons and the Spartans series is a long and veritable one—dating back to the first year of the USF program, 1976-77.  The Spartans hold a 21-16 all-time advantage, but the Dons are 15-6 since the 1983-84 season, and have taken five straight in the series.

Notre Dame de Namur Remix
  • The Dons posted its first game in which five women scored in double figures. USF was led by freshman Zhane Dikes' career-high 17 points (15 in the second half). Taj Winston finished with 16, Taylor Proctor netted 15, Denae Mary Williams had 14 and Mel Khlok added 13 in the lopsided victory.
  • The 90-point swing between consecutive games is the most for the Dons in its NCAA history, but is not quite tops in the school record books. In the 1978-79 season, while competing in the AIAW, the Dons posted a 98-22 win over Cal State Stanislaus to start the season before falling to UCLA 58-73 in its next turn on the court—a 91-point difference.
  • With its fifth win of the season, the Dons have already equaled the win total from one season ago.

Tenacious D
  • The Dons' fierce defense holds opponents to 34.6 percent shooting from the field and 27.4 percent from beyond the arc. This mark tops the West Coast Conference and ranks tied for 46th in the nation, and bests some formidable teams in the national Top 25 rankings.
  • USF's opponent field goal percentage mark surpasses teams like No. 8 Louisville, No. 11 Penn State, No. 13 Tennessee, No. 14 UCLA and No. 17 Dayton, to name a few.

“K”onference Superlatives
  • Senior Mel Khlok ranks in the top five in the WCC in a multitude of categories, including total minutes (319—2nd), steals per game (2.9—T-2nd), 3-point FG per game (2.0—5th) and scoring (14.4 ppg—5th).
