USF and Pacific Renew Long Rivalry on Saturday Night
USF (5-1, 0-0 WCC) will travel to Stockton Saturday night for a date with the Pacific Tigers (3-4, 0-0 Big West) at the Alex G. Spanos Center. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
The Dons have won five straight after a 81-65 home victory over St. John's on Tuesday night, while the Tigers are 3-2 on the young season following their 78-72 overtime victory over Nevada earlier this week.
Saturday's game will be last time USF and Pacific meet as non-conference foes, as the Tigers will become the 10th member of the West Coast Conference next year.
USF-Pacific Series
In a series that dates back to 1911-12, USF leads the series with Pacific, 62-30.
The Dons won last year's meeting in San Francisco, 76-69, snapping UOP's six-game winning streak in the series.
Angelo Caloiaro had 29 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Dons to their first win over the Tigers since Dec. 18, 2004 (67-64), which also marked USF's last win at the Spanos Center.
Pacific has won nine out of the last 14 meetings between the two schools dating back to the 1989-90 season. Prior to the Tigers latest run of success, USF had won six straight in the series from 1975-76 to 1987-88.

De'End Parker scored a team-high 21 points while
Cody Doolin added 18 to go along with a career-high 14 assists to lead USF to a 16-point victory over the visiting Red Storm.
USF was nursing a three-point lead at 59-56 with 7:41 remaining before going on a 15-4 run to take a 74-60 lead with 2:21 left.
Mark Tollefsen came off the bench to score 11 points while Tim Derksen added 10 as the Dons won their fifth straight game.
Starts and Streaks
USF is off to a 5-1 start for the second consecutive season and its current five-game winning streak matches the longest stretch of success under head coach
Rex Walters.
Last season, the Dons won five straight after suffering a season-opening loss to North Dakota State. Following losses to Murray State and New Mexico State, USF won four straight to improve to 9-3.
A win over Pacific on Saturday would give USF its first 6-1 start since 1999-2000, when the Dons won 12 of their first 13 games under head coach Phil Mathews.
The last time USF won six straight games was in the 204-05 season.
Winning Ways
USF is 39-21 (.650) in their last 60 games following a 5-9 start to the 2010-11 season. USF has also made back-to-back postseason appearances under
Rex Walters, competing in the CIT in 2010-11 and the CBI last season.
Last season, the Dons finished with an overall record of 20-14, marking the program's first 20-win season since 1981-82 (25-6).
Leaders in Their Field
Three USF players --
Cole Dickerson, De'End Parker and
Cody Doolin -- rank in the Top 10 nationally in various statistical categories.
Dickerson leads the nation in rebounding, averaging 13.8 boards a game, which is just ahead of Siena's O.D. Anosike (13.3).
Parker leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage, as the junior two-guard is shooting 75 percent (15-for-20) from beyond the arc after six games.
Following the St. John's game in which he dished out a career high 14 assists, Doolin is averaging 7.0 assists per game, which is tied for ninth among the national leaders.
As a team, USF leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 45.3 (43-for-95).
The Four D's
USF's Four D's -- De'End Parker,
Cole Dickerson, Tim Derksen and
Cody Doolin -- have accounted for 74.3 percent (327 of 440) of the team's scoring and 62.7 percent (150 of 239) of its rebounding total in the early going.
Either Parker or Dickerson have taken high-point honors in five of the first six games, while Dickerson has led/shared the team in rebounding in all six contests.
Doolin has scored in double-figures in four of six games and leads the team in minutes played (219) and ranks first in the conference in assist average (7.0).
Derksen has started all six games as a freshman and ranks sixth in the conference in field goal percentage at 56.4 (22-for-39).
Dickerson Doubling Down
Cole Dickerson is averaging a double-double six games into the 2012-13 campaign, as the junior forward from Federal Way, Wash. is scoring 13.3 points and grabbing 13.8 rebounds per game.
He currently leads the nation in rebound average, ahead of Siena's O.D. Anosike (13.3).
Dickerson has posted four double-doubles in six games this season against Stanford (11-19), Cal State-East Bay (14-15), Columbia (10-14) and Montana (19-20). He had 20 points and seven rebounds at American and scored six points to go along with eight rebounds vs. St. John's.
He also posted double-doubles in both exhibition games against San Francisco State (21-15) and UNC-Pemboke (24-10).
Dickerson averaged 7.1 ppg and 4.0 rpg in 34 games last season, including one start.
Parker Tops Balanced Scoring Column
Junior guard De'End Parker leads USF in scoring afer six games with a 19.7 per game average, which ranks fourth among all WCC players.
Parker has scored in double figures in all six games this season, topped off by a career-high 31-point effort in USF's win over Columbia in which he converted on 12-of-18 shots from the floor, including 2-of-4 from three-point range.
Parker is shooting 50 percent (42-for-84) from the floor, which ranks 11th in the WCC, and leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage at .750 (15-for-20).
Parker grew up two blocks from the USF campus and attended Lincoln High School and City College of San Francisco before spending one season at UCLA.
What's Doolin
Junior point guard
Cody Doolin leads the WCC and is tied for ninth nationally in assists per game (7.0). He also leads the conference in minutes played per game (36.5).
With a career high 14 assists vs. St. John's, Doolin ran his career total to 291, moving past Rod Williams (1974-78) into eighth place on the school's all-time assist chart. He needs four more dimes to tie Ken McAllister (1978-82) for seventh place.
Doolin also tops the WCC in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.2; 42-13). For his career, Doolin has a 2.1 assist (291) to turnover (129) ratio.
Board Work
USF has outrebounded five of its first six opponents and currently ranks third in the the WCC in rebound average (39.8) and second in rebound margin (+9.0; 39.8-30.8).
USF is averaging 10.1 offensive boards a game while limiting opponents to 7.0 second chances per contest.
Cole Dickerson currently leads the nation in rebounding with a 13.8 per game average.
Last season, USF averaged 33.2 boards a game and finished fifth in the WCC in rebound margin at +0.9.

After giving up a season-high 74 points to Stanford in the season-opener, USF has held its last five opponents under 70 points, including three under 60.
The Dons rank third in the WCC in scoring defense, allowing just 62.8 points a game.
Debuts
Eight players have made their USF debuts this season, including freshmen Tim Derksen, Coltin Gelb, Matt Christiansen, Avry Holmes, Tao Xu and redshirt freshman

De'End Parker, who spent last year at UCLA and Frank Rogers, who played at Cabrillo College, have also made their USF debuts this season.
The Home Record
USF is 4-0 at home this season and boasts a 38-13 (.745) record in its last 51 home games dating back to the 2009-10 season.

New Faces
Nine new players dot the Dons 2012-13 roster, including six freshman, one sophomore and two juniors. Junior guard De'End Parker, who attended San Francisco's Lincoln High School and City College of San Francisco before spending last season at UCLA, will make an immediate impact, as will sophomore Frank Rogers, a Salinas High School graduate who played last season at Cabrillo Junior College.
USF's freshmen class consists of 6-9 forward Matt Christiansen (Oklahoma City/Bishop McGuinness HS), 6-3 guard Tim Derksen (Tucson, AZ/Amphitheater HS), 6-1 guard Coltin Gelb (Boca Raton, FL/Spanish River HS), 6-2 guard Avry Holmes (Salem, OR/North Salem HS), 6-5 guard Joe Edmonds (Oklahoma City, OK/Bishop McGuinness HS) and 6-11 center Tao Xu (Qingdao City/The Haverford School).
Matt Glover, who played last season at Penn State, will sit out this season while satisfying NCAA transfer rules.
The Roster
USF's roster is made up of five juniors, three sophomores, one redshirt freshman and six true freshmen. Included among the juniors is guard Matt Glover, who will sit out this season after transferring from Penn State.
USF's players hail from eight different states, including California (6), Oklahoma (2), Oregon (2), Arizona (1), Texas (1), Rhode Island (1), Washington (1), Florida (1) and one foreign country (China).
