This Week
USF (11-15, 4-9 WCC) faces Loyola Marymount (8-18, 1-12 WCC) Thursday night at Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles before returning home to play host to Pepperdine (12-14, 4-9 WCC) in Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday night, as the Dons try to sweep the season series with its Southern California rivals. USF dropped a pair of home games last week to Portland and Gonzaga, while LMU suffered a pair of setbacks to Pepperdine and Saint Mary's.
USF-Loyola Marymount Series History
USF leads the all-time series with Loyola Marymunt, 106-38, including a 78-34 mark WCC play. The two teams have also met six times in the WCC Tournament, with the Dons holding a 5-1 edge.
USF has won 11 of the last 16 meetings between the two schools, including a 62-53 victory on Jan. 19 on The Hilltop, and is 37-12 vs. LMU dating back to the last meeting of the 1990-91 season. The last 10 games between the Dons and Lions have been decided by 10 points or less, including five which have been decided by four points or less.
LMU swept last year's season series, winning 77-76 in San Francisco and 90-88 in Los Angeles. However, the Dons scored a 67-60 victory in the quarterfinals of the WCC Tournament in Las Vegas.

USF has made 44 three-pointers in its last four games vs. Pepperdine (14), BYU (14), Portland (9) and Gonzaga (7) and have shot at a 45.7 percent clip (70-for-153) from beyond the arc over its last seven games. The Dons have made nine or more three-pointers in 11 games this season.
Avry Holmes (51.4) ranked second in the nation in three-point field goal percentaeg while De'End Parker (50.0) ranks fifth. Chris Adams ranks fourth in the WCC 29th nationally at 46.5 percent (33-for-71). All but four of Adams' field goals this season has been a three-pointer.

Avry Holmes, De'End Parker and Chris Adams - who rank first, second and fourth in WCC three-point field goal percentage - have combined to shoot 49.2 percent (98-for-199) from beyond the arc this season. All three players rank in the top three nationally in three-point field goal percentage. Holmes ranks second at 51.4 (38-75), Parker fifth (50.0; 27-54) and Adams 29th (46.5; 33-71).

USF is 1-6 in WCC homes games this season and is 6-7 overall on its homecourt. The Dons are 40-20 (.667) record in its last 60 home games dating back to the 2009-10 season and are 47-25 (.652) in Memorial Gymnasium in five seasons under head coach Rex Walters. The Dons are 4-5 in true road games this season, with wins at American (Nov. 19), Portland (Jan. 24), Pepperdine (Feb. 2) and BYU (Feb. 9).
Lineups
USF employed its fifth starting lineups this season Saturday vs. Gonzaga, with De'End Parker returning to the starting five, joining Coody Doolin, Chris Adams, Cole Dickerson and Matt Christiansen. Tim Derksen came off the benhc for the first time this season after 25 consecutive starts. The quintent Doolin, Adams, Derksen, Dickerson and Christiansen had been in place for the previous seven games. Doolin and Dickerson have started all 26 games, Derksen 25, Adams 12 and Parker 15. Tao Xu (16) and Frank Rogers (2) have also earned starting assignments.
Five underclassmen, including three freshmen, have earned starts at some point during the season.
Leaders in Their Field
Five USF players -- Avry Holmes, De'End Parker, Cole Dickerson and Cody Doolin -- rank in the top-30 nationally in various statistical categories. Holmes ranks second in three-point field goal percentage at 51.4 percent, while Parker is tied for fifth at 50 percent. Dickerson ranks 23rd in rebound average (9.6), Adams 29th in three-point field goal percentage (46.5) while Doolin ranks 28th in assists (5.8).
From the Field
After shooting just 32.7 percent (34-for-104) from the field against Santa Clara (16-for-50) and Loyola Marymount (18-for-54), USF has shot 45.3 percent (179-for-395) over the last seven games. The Dons shot a season-high 57.1 percent (32-for-56) at BYU, including a sizzling 72 percent (18-for-25) in the second half as USF erased a 15-point deficit.
USF is 8-3 this season when shooting 50 percent or better from the floor, with its only losses in those 11 games coming against Ole Miss (50.9) BYU (50.0) and the first game against Saint Mary's (51.0). USF currently ranks fourth in the WCC in field goal percentage at 45.1 percent.
Board Work
The Dons have been outboarded in 18 of the last 21 contests dating back to the St. John's game on Dec. 4 and rank ninth in the WCC in rebound average at 32.4 per game and rebound margin (-2.6). USF also ranks ninth in the WCC in offensive rebounds at 8.3 per game. USF outrebounded BYU, 38-30, ending a streak of 10 games in which the Dons were outboarded by its opponent.
Charity Stripe Turnaround
USF is shooting 71.2 (206-for-289) percent from the line over the last 15 games after converting on just 61.1 percent (132-for-216) of its charity tries over the first 10 contests. However, the Dons still rank ninth in the WCC in free throw percentage at 66.9.
Defensive Doings
The Dons are allowing 70.2 points a game, which ranks ninth among WCC teams. Opponents are shooting 44.4 percent from the floor, which is the highest percentage allowed in the conference. The Dons also rank ninth in the conference in blocks (2.0) and steals (5.3) per game.
Second Half Surge
Over the last four games, USF has outscored its opponents, 188-150 in the second half, while shooting 53.3 percent (63-for-118) from the floor and 71.8 percent (23-for-32) from three-point range.
Dickerson's Doubles
Cole Dickerson has posted 10 double-doubles in 26 games this season and was a rebound or point away from double-doubles in five other games against Pacific (14-9), Nevada (11-9), East Tennessee State (19-9), BYU (22-9) and Saint Mary's (9-11). The last USF player to average a double-double for an entire season was Darrell Tucker, when he scored 18.9 points and grabbed 10.1 rebounds a game in 2001-02.
Doolin Climbing USF's Career Assist Chart
Junior point guard Cody Doolin ranks second in the WCC and 28th nationally in assists per game (5.8). Doolin's career assist total now stands at 399, which ranks third on USF's all-time list behind Orlando Smart (902) and Gerald Walker (400).

Dons Ironmen
Cody Doolin is averaging 33.5 minutes per game, which ranks fifth among all conference players, while Cole Dickerson ranks sixth, averaging 32.7 minutes per game. Doolin has started all 95 games in his USF career.
USF Impressive in Overtime Under Walters
USF boasts an 8-1 record in overtime games under head coach Rex Walters. The Dons only overtime loss came at Colorado State, 91-75 in the 2009-10 season.
Doolin Named to Capital One Academic All-District VIII Team
Cody Doolin was one of five players selected to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII basketball team, as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America in recognition of the nation's top student-athletes for their performances athletically and in the classroom. Doolin, a native of Austin, Texas, carries a 3.68 cumulative grade point average as a finance major. District VIII comprises the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, along with Canada. Doolin along with the other first team All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in February.
