USF Plays Host to Pepperdine Saturday Night
USF (12-15, 5-9 WCC) will play its final West Coast Conference home game on Saturday night as the Dons play host to the Pepperdine Waves (12-14, 4-9 WCC) beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.
The Dons are coming off a 61-59 victory at Loyola Marymount Thursday night, as
Cody Doolin's driving layup with 0.05 left lifted USF to its fifth win in nine games. Pepperdine has been idle since last Saturday when it dropped a 70-60 decision at Santa Clara.
Saturday's game will be televised on the Time Warner Cable Sports Network (CSNCA in the Bay Area) with Scott Reiss and Dan Belluomini calling the action from courtside.
USF-Pepperdine Series History
Dating back to the 1956-57 season, USF leads the all-time series with Pepperdine, 74-46. The Dons hold a 6-5 edgge in the last 11 meetings between the two schools, including an 86-78 victory earlier this season in Malibu in a game that saw USF nail 14 three-pointers.
Each team claimed one-sided decisions on their homecourts last season, as the Waves downed the Dons 77-61 in Malibu while USF scored a 78-63 decision on The Hilltop.
USF has not swept Pepperdine since the 2007-08 season.

Buzzer Beaters
Cody Doolin's game-winning driving lay-up with 0.05 left at Loyola Marymount was the second game USF has won at the buzzer this season.
On Jan. 24,
Cole Dickerson hit a three-pointer with 0.01 left to lift USF to a 75-72 win at Portland.
Doolin now has five game-winning lay-ups in his career vs. Louisiana (Nov. 13, 2011), at Montana (Dec. 1, 2011), vs. No. 24 Gonzaga (Jan. 22, 2011) and vs. Hawaii (March 19, 2011), along with Thursday night's heroics at LMU.

Lineups
USF employed its sixth starting lineup of the season Thursday at Loyola Marymount, with
Mark Tollefsen making his first career start in the middle in place of Matt Christiansen, who had started the eight previous games in the post. Tollefsen responded with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.
Tollefsen became the fourth player to start in the post for USF this season, following Frank Rogers (2), Tao Xu (16) and Christiansen (8).
Cody Doolin and
Cole Dickerson are the only two players to have started all 27 games this season.
Six underclassmen, including four freshmen, have earned starts at some point during the season.

Five USF players -- Avry Holmes, De'End Parker,
Cole Dickerson and
Cody Doolin -- rank in the top-40 nationally in various statistical categories. Holmes ranks second in three-point field goal percentage at 51.3 percent, while Parker ranks 21st at 47.5 percent. Dickerson ranks 33rd in rebound average (9.4) while Doolin ranks 28th in assists (5.7).
From the Field
After shooting just 32.7 percent (34-for-104) from the field against Santa Clara (16-for-50) and Loyola Marymount (18-for-54), USF has shot 45.3 percent (201-for-443) over the last eight games. The Dons shot a season-high 57.1 percent (32-for-56) at BYU, including a sizzling 72 percent (18-for-25) in the second half as USF erased a 15-point deficit.
USF is 8-3 this season when shooting 50 percent or better from the floor, with its only losses in those 11 games coming against Ole Miss (50.9) BYU (50.0) and the first game against Saint Mary's (51.0). USF currently ranks fourth in the WCC in field goal percentage at 45.1 percent.

Dickerson's Doubles
Cole Dickerson has posted 10 double-doubles in 27 games this season and was a rebound or point away from double-doubles in five other games against Pacific (14-9), Nevada (11-9), East Tennessee State (19-9), BYU (22-9) and Saint Mary's (9-11). The last USF player to average a double-double for an entire season was Darrell Tucker, when he scored 18.9 points and grabbed 10.1 rebounds a game in 2001-02.
