
Men's Tennis Falls at 2nd-Ranked USC, 6-1

LOS ANGELES – The University of San Francisco men's tennis team fell to the No.2-ranked University of Southern California Trojans, 6-1, Sunday morning at Marks Stadium.
With the loss, the Dons fell to 1-2 on the season while the Trojans stayed unbeaten at a perfect 6-0 on the year.
Bernardo Saraiva picked up the only point for USF on the day, taking down No. 121 Jonny Wang in a three-set tiebreaker and moving to 2-0 in singles play on the spring.
“The guys competed well today against one of the perennial powerhouses in college tennis,” said USF coach Peter Bartlett. “The whole team did good job fighting. Bernardo Saraiva played very well and defeated his ranked opponent continuing his consistent results. Rich Van Hout, one of the newer additions to the team, showed good energy and competitiveness in his first official match."
The Dons open West Coast Conference play at the Olympic Club on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at noon when they play host to the Saint Mary's Gaels (2-3, 0-0 WCC).
