SAN FRANCISCO -
The University of San Francisco Diamond Dons will look to exend their seven-game win streak this weekend when they host Loyola Marymount. The Dons (21-15, 8-4 WCC) took two-of-three from the Lions (18-18, 7-5 WCC) last season.

First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m., with 1 p.m. starts scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

DONS BRIEFS

  • USF has won two West Coast Conference titles, in 2006 and 2011.
  • Since 2006, the Dons have a 272-222 (.551) record.
  • The Dons have won nine of their last 10, eight of 10 WCC games and 13 of 17.
  • Cal defeated USF earlier this season at Benedetti Diamond, 5-2.
  • The Dons took two of three from the Lions last season. Justin Maffei was 7-for-12 with a home run and a stolen base aginst Loyola Marymount in 2012. Jason Mahood was 5-for-13 with 2 runs and 7 RBIs.

ZIMMER WINS WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS - Bradley Zimmer had a great weekend at Santa Clara. The sophomore was 7-for-12 with five runs and five RBIs. Zimmer homered in each of the last two games, was walked five times (three intentional), stole a base, was hit by a pitch, and had an outfield assist. Zimmer is hitting .339 on the season, and is tied for second in the WCC with seven home runs.


DOUBLE TIME - After an extra-base hit at Santa Clara, third baseman Bob Cruikshank has 14 doubles this season, tying him for second in the WCC. The sophomore had just one double in 93 at-bats in 2012.


TRANSFER OF POWER - Junior Zachary Turner swung a hot bat last week, going 11-for-26 with six runs and nine RBIs. Turner smacked three doubles and a pair of home runs in five games.


MIDDLE OF THE PACK - USF ranks seventh in the West Coast Conference with a .253 batting average. The Dons are second in doubles (66). third in home runs (17) and fourth in total bases (440). The Dons pitching staff ranks third in the conference in ERA (3.08), second in batting average against (.251) and runs allowed (138), and first in innings pitched (330.2) and walks allowed (92).


MOUND PRESENCE - Senior Haden Hinkle is 7-1, with a 1.45 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 49.2 innings pitched. Hinkle leads the West Coast Conference in wins, is fourth in batting average against (.209), and third in ERA. Hinkle earned a win in Saturday's game at Santa Clara, 2.2 hitless innings in the Dons 13-inning win.


DIAMOND DONS DOWN CALIFORNIA - The Dons evened the season series with California Tuesday, pounding 14 hits and matching a season-best for runs in an 11-5 victory at Evans Diamond. Bradley Zimmer, Zachary Turner and Ryan Matranga each hit home runs, a season-high for USF. Ben Graff earned his second win of the season and five Dons had multi-hit games as California fell to 16-20.
