SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Two out of three isn't bad, and the San Francisco Diamond Dons (24-17, 11-7 WCC) will take it, even after losing to San Diego, 7-0, Sunday after winning Friday and Saturday. USF remains in second place in the West Coast Conference as the race for four playoff spots looks to heat up in the coming weeks.
Toreros starter P.J. Conlon was the star of the day, tossing a complete game six-hit shutout to improve to 7-0 on the season.
San Diego (26-18, 10-8 WCC) chased Dons starter
Christian Cecilio from the game in the fifth. The sophomore allowed four hits and four runs on the day.
Brendan Hendriks singled twice and was the only Don with more than one hit on the day.
USF will play at San Diego State tomorrow before hosting San Jose State at Benedetti Diamond Tuesday afternoon. The Dons host Pepperdine this weekend in their last home series of the season.
