SAN FRANCISCO – The University San Francisco Diamond Dons will head to Reno Tuesday to complete the second game of their home-and-away series with the Wolf Pack. The Dons defeated Nevada at home, 7-1, on March 19 behind a solid outing from seven pitchers.
 
USF will send freshman left-hander Thomas Cox to the mound for the first start of his collegiate career. Cox is 0-0 with a 0.87 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched.
 
Nevada starter Barry Timko will look to even his record against USF after taking the loss in March. Timko is 0-2 with a 5.66 ERA.

DONS BRIEFS

USF has won two West Coast Conference titles, in 2006 and 2011.
Since 2006, the Dons have a 268-222 (.547) record.
The Dons have won five of their last six, and nine of 13.
USF beat Nevada, 7-1, March 19 at Benedetti Diamond.

With the win Sunday at Texas Christian, the Dons moved over .500 (16-15) for the first time this season.


GETTING THINGS STARTED - Leadoff hitter Justin Maffei is 29-for-79 (.367) in his last 18 games. The senior centerfielder has scored 14 runs, driven in six, and stolen six bases to go with five doubles and a home run in that time.


SUPER SOPHOMORE - Bradley Zimmer is 29-for-81 (.358) in his last 23 games. The sophomore has scored 15 runs, driven in 17 and stolen eight bases in that time. Zimmer has three doubles, two triples and five home runs in those games.


DOUBLE TIME - Third baseman Bob Cruikshank has 12 doubles this season, tying him for second in the WCC. The sophomore had just one double in 93 at-bats in 2012.


TRANSFER OF POWER - Junior Zachary Turner leads the Dons with 21 RBI. Turner was a 2012 All-American at Canada College (Redwood City, Calif.)


MIDDLE OF THE PACK - USF ranks ninth in the West Coast Conference with a .247 batting average. The Dons are fourth in doubles (50) and home runs (11) and fifth in total bases (349). The Dons pitching staff ranks third in the conference in ERA (3.14), second in batting average against (.253) and runs allowed (121), and first in walks allowed (81).


MOUND PRESENCE - Senior Haden Hinkle is 6-1, with a 1.42 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched. Hinkle leads the West Coast Conference in wins, is second in batting average against (.199), and third in ERA. Hinkle dropped his first decision of the year Friday at TCU after going 6-0 to start the year. Friday's start was his first of the season after making 11 relief appearances.
