LOS ANGELES—The Dons put up eight runs in the first two innings and rallied behind a solid performance from Christian Cecilio to beat Loyola Marymount 9-3 in West Coast Conference action on Saturday night.

The Dons (15-14, 5-6 WCC) have won consecutive games for the first time since Mar. 22 and 25 when they defeated BYU and Oregon.

San Francisco got off to a strong start against LMU starter Patrick McGrath. Bradley Zimmer tripled to lead off the game and it was followed by a Nico Giarratano walk. Derek Atkinson came up next and singled up the middle to score Zimmer and give the Dons a 1-0 lead.

The hit by Zimmer marked a 17-game hit streak for the junior outfielder.

The Dons scored on consecutive at bats when Zack Turner hit a sacrifice fly and Bob Cruikshank doubled down the leftfield line to go up by four. USF wrapped up the inning with a RBI double from Michael Eaton and the Dons had a 5-0 lead after the top of the first.

San Francisco followed the first up with three more runs in the second. With two runners on, Turner tripled to right center to drive in both runners and give USF a 7-1 lead. Cruikshank came up next and drove in Turner on a sacrifice fly.

Cecilio took care of the rest. He went 6.2 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks. It was the second consecutive week the left hander has picked up a win.

McGrath lasted 1.2 innings allowing eight runs, six earned, on nine hits and two walks.

The Dons go for the sweep of LMU on Sunday with Grant Goodman on the mound.
