SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Francisco volleyball team couldn't overcome a rough hitting night as the Dons fell to San Diego in straight sets at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Thursday night.
USF hit just .111 in the match, juxtaposed with the Toreros .306 outing, and no Dons broke the double-digit kill tally.
Katarina Pilepic's eight kills and four digs both serve as team highs, and
Kiara McKibben picked up 13 assists and four digs.
With the 25-19, 25-19, 25-14 win over the Dons, San Diego improves to 20-7 on the season and 13-3 in West Coast Conference play. USF now sports a mark of 16-13 (3-13 WCC). Heading into the final two matches on the season, the Dons are guaranteed a winning record, despite dropping its last six contests.
The second set of the evening proved to be the most competitive, as USF jumped out to the 6-1 lead after Lisa Kramer's attempt was blocked by Pilepic and
Oluoma Okaro. Â After a Torero sideout and Kramer at the serve, San Diego notched the tie at six apiece. The Toreros built a four-point lead as Kramer continued to serve.
The Dons cut the advantage to 14-12 after a San Diego miscue, and again stayed within striking distance after a block from Okaro and
Courtney Sabahi made it 17-15.
