Dons Come Up Short at Cal

BERKELEY, California- USF women's tennis team came short this afternoon against No. 3 California, 4-0 at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
USF heads back with an 11-8 record and a WCC record of 6-4. The Dons have just two matches left in their regular season before they compete in the WCC tournament.
Andrea Ka and Marina Nikolic missed the mark against nationally ranked No. 9 Klara Fabikova and Zsofi Susanyi 8-3. The Bears' Lynn Chi and Denise Starr claimed the doubles point against Genevieve McCloskey and Thyra Taune, 8-3.
Ka, McCloskey and Teixeira played hard in their first sets against California that were not finished, but displayed competitive play. Ka was only under two games, 6-4 to the 20th ranked Fabikova.
McCloskey also was just behind in her first set against Cecilia Estlander, 6-4. Freshman Ines Texieira also battled it out to fall in the first 7-5 against Lyann Hoang.
The Bears finished the match taking No, 2,3 and 4 singles against the Dons.
Up next for the Dons is Gonzaga in Spokane, Washington on April 17 at 12 pm and Washington State the next day at 11 am to cap their regular season.
