USF Falls To Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash.- The USF women's tennis team finishes off their regular season against Washington State this afternoon to fall 4-3 at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
The Dons will take with them a 12-9 overall record and a strong 7-2 record in WCC play to the WCC Tournament.
USF missed the mark in doubles against the Cougars at No. 2 and 3. Although they did not finish their match, Andrea Ka and Marina Nikolic had the upper hand in their match 5-4, against Washington State's top duo, Elizaveta Luzina and Lize Leenknecht.
Sofia Holmberg picked up the first singles win for the Dons as she knocked down Natsia Vasykhina in two quick sets 6-1, 6-1. Hadzi-Tanovic followed suit with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Donika Bashota.
With the match 3-2, USF looked for No. 1 and No. 5 singles to clinch the win. Andrea Ka tied USF 3-3 with Washington State as she defeated Luzina in two sets, 7-6(4), 6-2.
However, The Cougars worked hard to earn the deciding straight set match of Genevieve McCloskey and Victoria Matejevic, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The Dons move forward towards WCC tournament competition in the pursuit of earning the title of WCC Champions. Play is set to commence on April 22 in San Diego, Calif.
