Dons Complete Day 1 at Battle in the Bay

Ka, playing against Dzina Milovanovic of Pepperdine, won two tie-breaking sets to place herself into the quarterfinals on Friday morning. Playing on Court 1, Ka was victorious in her first set, 7-5, and then won 7-6 (3) in the second set to secure her place in the round of eight.
On Friday, the fourth-seeded Ka will take on Lyann Hoang of California at 10:30 a.m. for a spot in the semifinal round.
Before Ka took the court, Thyra Taune, Shanna Dos Santos and Genevieve McCloskey all opened match play at 4:00 p.m. but suffered straight-set losses. Hanna Börjeson squared off later at 5:30 PM against Gaelle Rey of San Jose State, but lost 6-2, 6-3.
The women will open up doubles play on Friday, with Borjeson and McCloskey paired up to play against Hoang and Karla Popovic of California at 9:00 AM. At the same time, Dos Santos and Madison Westby of USC will face off against San Jose State's Rey and Marie Klocker.
