Opening Tip
USF (12-10, 5-6 WCC) resumes West Coast Conference play on Saturday night when the Dons renew their longtime rivalry with Santa Clara (8-15, 4-7). USF is coming off a 100-68 non-conference victory over Menlo College on Tuesday night while the Broncos picked up a 94-84 road win last Saturday at Portland.

Stand 8-15 overall and 4-7 in the WCC…are tied with Pacific for sixth place heading into Saturday's action…started the season 0-7 but are 8-8 since Nov. 29…eight of Santa Clara's 15 losses have been by eight points or less, including six that were within three points…SCU also has three overtime losses…Santa Clara posted its highest point total of the season in a 90-84 win at Portland last Saturday, which included 47 in the first half …shot 53.4 percent against the Pilots…junior guard Jared Brownridge, who scored 38 points at Portland, ranks second in the WCC and 28th nationally in scoring with a 20.0 ppg mark…he also ranks second in the team in assists (2.4) and third in rebounding (3.4)…he also ranks 18th nationally in three-point field goals made with 69…junior Nate Kratch leads the team in rebounding (8.7) and field goal percentage (56.0)…freshman KJ Feagin has moved up to second on the team's scoring charts with a 10.7 per game average.

USF-Santa Clara Series History
In a series that dates back to 1908-09, Santa Clara leads the all-time series with USF, 112-105. Santa Clara represents USF's oldest rival in terms of games played (217). USF claimed the first meeting of the season with a 74-61 come-from-behind victory over the Broncos on Jan. 21 in the South Bay. USF has won nine out of the last 13 and 10 out of the last 15 in the series following a seven-game Santa Clara winning streak. The two schools have met seven times in WCC Championship play, with Santa Clara holding a 5-2 advantage.

First Meeting With Santa Clara 
USF spotted Santa Clara a 13-2 lead out of the gates but roared back to defeat the Broncos, 74-61 on Jan. 21 at the Leavey Center. Devin Watson scored a game high 22 points, 17 of which came in the second half, Uche Ofoegbu finished with a career high 21 and Tim Derksen added 19 to help the Dons snap a three-game losing streak. The trio accounted for 63 of the Dons 74 points on the night. Santa Clara's Jared Brownridge scored the Broncos first 15 points of the game but scored just five second points, as the Dons outscored the Broncos, 42-26 after intermission. Santa Clara led by as many as many as 15 points at 26-11 in the first half before the Dons trimmed the lead to 35-32 lead at intermission. Santa Clara was holding a 49-44 lead with 13:05 left in the game when the Dons caught fire and went on a 21-5 run to open a 65-54 advantage with 3:26 remaining.  The Broncos could get no closer than nine points down the stretch.

Worth Watching
  • Two of the top three scorers in the WCC will be on display on Saturday in Santa Clara's Jared Brownridge (20.0) and USF's Devin Watson (19.6).
  • USF ranks fifth in the WCC in scoring (76.6) while Santa Clara ranks ninth (66.5). However, the Broncos are coming off a 90-point performance in a win over Portland last Saturday.
  • Santa Clara represents USF's oldest rival in terms of games played (217).

  • Sophomore point guard Devin Watson ranks third in the WCC and 35th nationally in scoring average at 19.6 ppg...he has been in double-figures in 21 of 22 games this season including 12 games of at least 20-points...he also is the seventh-highest scoring sophomore in the nation.
  • Senior guard Tim Derksen recorded his fourth double-double of the season and fifth of his career against Menlo (26-10)...now averaging 15.3 ppg and 6.3 boards a game...he ranks ninth in the WCC in scoring and 10th in rebounding.
  • The duo of Watson and Derksen is averaging 34.9 ppg (768 total) and account for 45.5 percent of USF's season point total (768 of 1686)...they are the second-highest scoring tandem by average in the WCC behind Kyle Wiltjer-Domantas Sabonis (904; 39.3) of Gonzaga.
  • Junior Ronnie Boyce has scored in double figures in nine of 11 WCC games and is averaging 15.6 ppg in conference play.
  • With 124 wins in seven-plus seasons on the Hilltop, Rex Walters is ranks fifth on USF's all-time career win list among coaches...he has coached 246 games, which ranks third all-time at USF.

Last Time Out 
USF stepped out of West Coast Conference play on Tuesday night and defeated the Menlo College Oaks, 100-68 inside War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. Tim Derksen scored a game high 26 points, one shy of his career high, Devin Watson added 20 while Chase Foster and freshman Marquill Smith chipped in with 10. Derksen, who also grabbed 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, made 11-of-15 of his shots from the floor. Watson nailed four 3-pointers in leading the Dons to the wire-to-wire 32-point victory. The Dons shot 51.4 percent from the field for the game and made 10-of-22 three-point attempts. USF also held a commanding edge on the boards, outrebounding the Oaks, 52-28.

Parking Information
Parking is available free of charge two hours prior to tip-off until one hour after the conclusion of the game in any campus lot, with the exception of designated green parking spots and the top of Hayes-Healy garage on Golden Gate Avenue adjacent to the gymnasium.
 
The Hilltop Club Level
Fans 21 and older can enjoy beverages and catered food options before and during designated games during the season in the Hilltop Club Level. Located in the upper mezzanine level on the south side of War Memorial at The Sobrato Center, The Hilltop Club Level will open one hour before tipoff and will remain accessible throughout the game. Beer, wine, soft drinks and catered food options will be available to all fans 21 years of age and older. Admission to the The Hilltop is priced at $25 per game. Season passes for all games with the exception of designated premium games may also be purchased for $250. Food and drink options are extra. The cost does not include a game ticket.
