HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – The No. 13 San Francisco Dons conclude their regular season schedule at the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge at Hermosa Beach Pier this weekend, against some of the top competition on the West Coast, and nationally.

Play begins on Saturday with schools playing in two head-to-head duals, followed by the beginning of the pairs tournament in the afternoon. Sunday's competition will wrap the action in each of the three brackets – bronze, silver and gold.

The field features all three previous AVCA Sand Championship team title winners, including last year's team and pairs champion, USC. Pepperdine and Long Beach State also boast team championship titles.

The Dons are slated to take on No. 4 UCLA in its first team match, scheduled to commence at 10:30 a.m. Then, USF meets up with Concordia in the first-ever meeting between the two squads at 1 p.m.

USF and UCLA have met once before on the sand, as the then-No. 6 Bruins escaped the Dons' home courts with a 3-2 victory during the 2014 campaign. Currently, UCLA boasts a 12-4 record on the year riding a five match winning streak after defeating Arizona State and No. 5 Hawaii at Hawaii last weekend.

Concordia heads to Hermosa Beach with a 1-6 overall record. However, including multiple exhibition matches, the Eagles have eight wins and seven losses against its diversified competition schedule. Most recently, its first win in program history as the squad defeated Colorado Mesa earlier this week.

Although not facing off in team competition, the Dons have the potential to meet up with pairs from a trio of Top-10 schools – No. 1 Pepperdine, No. 2 Southern California and No. 6 Long Beach State – as well as competitors from WCC foe Loyola Marymount.

Pairs play is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 3 p.m., and action from all three brackets continues Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
