SAN DIEGO, Calif.-- In the season's conference opener, USF women's volleyball traveled down south to face off against No. 7 San Diego, and eventually dropped the match in straight sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-7).

San Francisco (4-10, 0-1 WCC) recorded just 24 kills in the game, with Emily Reed and Tyna Adamcikova each totaling 10 kills. For the Toreros (10-2, 1-0 WCC), a balanced, efficient attack paved the way as USD hit .427 for a total of 41 kills.

After dropping the first game, USF battled hard in an attempt to tie the match at a set apiece. The Dons hit 10 kills in the second frame- the most out of any set for USF. For the set, Adamcikova hit five of her total kills, while Reed hit four.

USF will have a quick turnaround, as the young squad will now travel to Provo, Utah to take on No. 13 BYU. The match against the Cougars is slated for Saturday, Sept. 24 at 12 p.m. and will broadcast live on The W.TV.
