The Cardinals advance to third round of the NCAA Tournament and will host Colgate, after the Raiders beat the University of Michigan, 3-2, in their second round matchup.
COACHES QUOTES
USF head coach Eddie Soto
On his thoughts on the game and the team's performance:
"I'm a little speechless, and I couldn't be more proud of our guys. To come here, to compete, and really put Louisville on their heels. It was 2-2 and we kept breaking them down in the wide channels, but we were just a step behind. We didn't get a lucky bounce, we didn't get any breaks. The goal they (Louisville) got, you have to tip your hat, it was a beautiful strike. We have nothing to be ashamed of, we know what we're capable of and we came here and competed. We were that close to getting the result we needed."
On the seniors and the future for the underclassmen:
"This has been a body of work for the last four years. We put them through a lot, we weren't ready to play some big teams but I knew within in these four years it was going to be an experience, whether it was good or bad. To get to the second round in their senior year, and to almost come away with a victory in Louisville, it's a lot to look forward to going forward. You look at Sean Bowman, and some of the younger guys like Matt Orr, Ruben (Stuiver), Bar (Twito), there's a lot of great pieces that we have and this is a really exciting time to be a Don."
