LAS VEGAS – The University of San Francisco men's basketball team wraps up its non-conference slate this weekend playing back-to-back games against Duquesne and Nevada in the Continental Las Vegas Classic held at the Orleans Arena.

The Dons battle the Dukes at 5:30 p.m. on Friday live on FS2 with Justin Kutcher and Casey Jacobsen calling the action.  The Dons radio broadcast will be available on Livestream.com with Pat Olson and Jim Brovelli calling the action.  The Dons and Wolf Pack will square off at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday with the game being televised on FS1 with the same duo.

USF (7-4) is coming off a 52-41 win over Radford on Tuesday night, their third game in five days.  USF enters Friday's contest with a 2-0 record in the Continental Las Vegas Class following their wins over Radford and UC Davis on Dec. 15.

ABOUT THE DONS
  • The Dons will play Duquesne and Nevada at a familiar location, the Orleans Arena, in Las Vegas.  The Orleans has been the site of the WCC Tournament ever since the conference moved it there in the 2008-09 season.  USF has played at the Orleans 14 times over the last 10 years with the Dons going 5-9 at the location.  Last time USF played at the Orleans came Mar. 3 when the Dons fell to Santa Clara 76-69.
  • In the win over Radford, the Dons managed to score just 18 points in the first half and finished with 52 overall.  The last time the Dons scored less than 20 in half came in a 60-43 defeat at the hands of Saint Mary's on Jan. 26, 2017 when they scored 16 points in the second half. The last time the Dons won scoring less than 60 came in a tight 56-54 win over host Pepperdine on Feb. 21, 2015.
  • The Dons defeated Radford 52-41 on Tuesday, under coach Smith, USF has scored less than 70 points just 14 times and is 5-9 in those contests.  Last year the Dons were 4-7 in games where USF scored less than 70 points.
  • The Dons are currently 10th in the WCC in field goal percentage, shooting 39.1 percent from the field. A big reason for that is the Dons love of the 3-point field goal.  From long range, USF is shooting 31.3 percent from 3-point range going 94-for-300.  From inside the arc, the Dons are shooting a respectable 45.7 (162-354) percent.

SERIES VERSUS THE DUKES

The Dons and Dukes have met twice in both programs storied history.  They first met in San Francisco on Feb. 3, 1971 with Duquesne coming out on top 90-70.  The last time these teams faced each other was nine years later when the Dons hosted the Dukes and evened the series with a 91-83 victory in overtime on Dec. 20, 1980.

ABOUT THE DUKES
  • Duquesne (8-3), which extended its win streak to six with a 65-64 win over Lamar on Tuesday, leaves the city of Pittsburgh for the first time this season for a pair of Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic games at Orleans Arena. The Dukes will face San Francisco (7-4) on Friday at
  • 8:30 p.m. (FS2) and Southern Illinois at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (FS1). DU is 2-0 in the Classic with a 74-58 home win over North Carolina A&T on Dec. 17 and the victory over Lamar.
  • Duquesne's six-game win streak is the program's longest since 2010-11 Dukes reeled off 11
  • straight. The Dukes are 6-1 in December. The last Duquesne team to post more than five December wins was the 1980 NIT team which went 7-1 in December on its way to an 18-10 finish.

SERIES VERSUS NEVADA
The Wolf Pack, a former conference foe, and Dons have faced each other 78 times with the Dons owning a 46-32 advantage in the series.  The series began in the 1914-15 season with the Wolf Pack taking the first encounter 44-14.  The last time these two teams played came on Nov. 15, 2013 when Nevada came out on top 92-90 in overtime.

ABOUT THE WOLF PACK
  • UNR is 10-2 on the year, 6-0 at home, and 4-2 away from the Lawlor Events Center.  Nevada is receiving 13 votes in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.
  • They are averaging 83.4 points per game, while shooting 48.9 percent from the field.  Four members of the Wolf Pack are averaging 10 points or more and are led by Caleb Martin's 18.5 points per contest.
  • Nevada is 2-0 in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic after home wins over Radford (77-62) and UC Davis (88-73). They will take on Southern Illinois on Friday at 8:00 p.m. before wrapping up the tournament against the Dons on Dec. 23.
