SAN FRANCISCO – For seniors Hashima Carothers and Claudia Price, their time on the court for the San Francisco women's basketball team might be finished, but the bonds built on the Hilltop are unbreakable.
Not only did they grow together on the court, but the duo discovered something even more special – they are family.
"For both of them, I think that is something that really kind of that really kind of helped them with being able to mature, being able to grow in this program, being able to find a source of strength in one another," noted USF head coach Molly Goodenbour. "They are really different; they came from different backgrounds that came to have this connection, this blood connection, and this bond. I think that was a very important piece of what they were doing every day building that culture of family, and then to find out 'wow, we actually are family'."
The cousins connected the dots early on in their college careers and grew those through four years at USF. Price and Carothers have demonstrated that growth not only on the court, but also in the classroom and in the community, showing their passion in everything they do.
"This is our last year together, but it's not our last year together being that we are related," noted Carothers. "Now we've built a bond that can't be broken – outside of basketball."
