Marker Clinches 4-2 Win at Saint Mary's

MORAGA, Calif. – Taking wins in three of its last four matches, the San Francisco men's tennis team defeated Saint Mary's 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.
The Dons dropped the doubles point to start the action, but came strong in singles play, earning wins from Nos. 2 through 5 as Ryan Marker secured the clinch at No. 3. Marker, a sophomore from Rancho Mirage, Calif., took care of Matthew Campana 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Also playing a three-set thriller, freshman Paul Giraud took the point at No. 5 with the 6-3, 3,-3, 6-3 score. USF's other singles points came from the racquets of Johan Joenhagen and Oliver Poysti. Joenhagen downed Nash Vollenwieder 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2, and Poysti's Court 4 win over Calvin Jordaan was a quick 6-0, 6-2 affair.
Next up, the Dons host Southern California foes Loyola Marymount on Friday at The Olympic Club, and Pepperdine on Saturday at the California Tennis Club. First serve for both matches is slated for 1 p.m.
