SAN FRANCISCO - In their West Coast Conference opener against No. 17 San Diego (8-3, 1-0), USF (3-11, 0-1) showed glimpses of what the young squad is growing into - a competitive, energetic, and gutsy team. Although the Dons displayed loads of potential, the Toreros took home a 3-1 victory.Â

- The Dons got a jump on the southern California visitors in set one, winning 25-23. They tallied 15 kills on a .257 hitting percentage.Â
- The first set saw 13 lead changes.Â
- Three Dons finished with nine kills - Nora Buvarp-Lavik, Erica Ronda, and Carly Lowry.
- Senior hitter Buvarp-Lavik registered a team-high .350 hitting percentage. The Norway native also had three block assists and one serve ace.Â
- The Dons out-blocked the Toreros nine to seven.Â
- USF held San Diego to a .150 attack percentage in set one, well below their average of .267.Â
