The University of San Francisco men's basketball team is back in action on Friday. The Dons will play Stephen F. Austin to open the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic when the Dons and 'Jacks tip at 1:00 p.m. local time, 5:00 a.m. PST. Friday's game will be streamed online at BBC Sport NI Online. - Out of a possible 240 minutes this season, the Dons have led in all but 11:33, or for 228 minutes and 27 seconds.
- The NCAA released the first NET update on Monday and the Dons were 25th in the nation. They were one of three teams from the WCC in the top-25. As of Wednesday evening, the Dons are up to 22nd in the NET rankings.
- In the latest Mid-Major Poll, the Dons cracked the top-25. After receiving votes in the poll for two weeks, the 6-0 Dons broke through at No. 21.
THE SERIES
Friday's contest against Stephen F. Austin is the third time these two teams have met. The Dons own a 2-0 advantage in the series that dates back to Jan. 4, 1988 when the Dons defeated Stephen F. Austin at home 77-59. At home, USF is 1-0 against the Lumberjacks, they also own a win on a neutral site.
ABOUT THE LUMBERJACKS
Stephen F. Austin was picked to win the Southland Conference in the annual preseason poll. Led by 2018-19 Preseason All-Southland Conference First Team choices Shannon Bogues, Kevon Harris and TJ Holyfield, the 'Jacks are 4-1 this season, their lone loss came against Miami 96-58 on Nov. 13. Since then they've rattled off two wins against Belfast Classic opponents Marist (64-60) and St. Edwards (73-60). Bogues leads the team in scoring while averaging 15.4 points per game in 33.8 minutes per game.
LAST GAME AGAINST STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
The last time out, the Dons defeated the Lumberjacks 123-102 in a shootout at the Lobo Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., on Nov. 28, 1994. In that game, John Duggan recorded a double-double scoring a career-high with 34 points, and dishing out 14 assists en route to all-tournament honors. The Dons led that game 61-53 at the half.
