SAN FRANCISCO -- The University of San Francisco women's tennis team faced Cal State Fullerton at the Olympic Club on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-0 to the Titans.
"Today we tried a few new pairings in doubles and were very close in the doubles point," said assistant coach Sean Dizon. "Our competitive spirit in singles was there throughout the whole match, but we were unable to execute at the end of the sets."
Emily Maxfield and Shanna Dos Santos fell 2-6 to the Titans to start doubles play. Mya Bui and Margarita Treyes followed with a 4-6 loss. With the doubles point won by Fullerton, Alexa Meyer and Anna Sokiran's doubles match went unfinished at 5-4, 3-3.
In singles, Sokiran started with a 3-6, 3-6 loss. Dos Santos and Maxfield both followed with 4-6, 3-6 losses and the rest of the singles matches went unfinished.
"It's a young team," Dizon said. "Although we are not winning, we feel our team is still improving and moving in the right direction as the season continues."
