TOMORROW'S GAME
The Dons have advanced to the semifinals of the CBI following their 78-73 win over
Utah Valley on Monday night. The win over the Wolverines secured the USF's 20
th win of the season, giving the Hilltopers 20 wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 1981 and '82 seasons. The win over Utah Valley also gives the Dons their third win over a top-90 RPI team, as the Wolverines entered the contest with an RPI of 83, top in the CBI.
The Dons have won two games in a postseason tournament for the first time since the 2011 season when the Dons advanced to the CIT Quarterfinals. USF is in the semifinals of a postseason tournament for the first time since the 1957 NCAA Tournament when the Dons advanced to the consolation game.
Monday night's game had a few other milestones. In the middle of the second half
Jordan Ratinho broke a
20-year-old record when he made his 76 3-point field goal of the season, breaking former Don Ali Thomas' mark of 75 set in the 1997-98 season. Also, in that game senior
Chase Foster scored his 800
th career point. Foster and Ratinho both combined to score 20 in the win over Utah Valley.
Campbell enters Thursday night's contest with an overall record of 18-15 following a 71-69 win over New Orleans on Monday night on their home court. The members of the Big South finished conference the regular season with a 10-8 record, good enough for fourth in the conference. The Camels are making their second-straight appearance in a postseason tournament, last year they went to the CIT. Campbell is 14-4 at home this season, but just 4-10 away from the friendly confines. As a team, they average 76.3 points per game and shoot 48.1 percent. Leading the team in scoring is Chris Clemons, who is fourth in the NCAA averaging 25.1 points per game.
THE SERIES
Thursday night's game will be the first time the Dons and Camels have met. The Camels split their season-series with Radford, the only common opponent for both teams.
