WTN | Dons Battle to the Wire against Aztecs, Fall 1-4

SAN DIEGO -- The University of San Francisco women's tennis team faced San Diego State on Sunday, Apr. 8 at the Aztec Tennis Center, falling in a tough matchup, 1-4.
The Dons played the Aztecs to the wire in doubles as the match came down to the final point. Emily Maxfield and Mya Bui fell 3-6, but Anna Sokiran and Shanna Dos Santos came back with a 7-5 win to even the match. Hanna Borjeson and Margarita Treyes put up a fight in their match, bringing it to a tiebreaker point, but ultimately dropped the match 5-7.
The Dons remained one point behind the Aztecs after two singles matches, with a big 7-6, 6-2 win from Treyes, but Alexa Meyer dropped her match to keep San Diego State ahead of the Dons. Sokiran was next to finish, falling 6-7, 4-6. The match came down to one more game for Bui. The freshman would battle hard before falling 6-7, 3-6 in the match that clinched the win for the Aztecs. The rest of singles went unfinished.
