Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

WSOC | Dons Fall to No. 3 Cardinal

Box Score

SAN FRANCISCO –
The University of San Francisco women's soccer team played in front of a sold out crowd at Negoesco Stadium for the first time in program history on Sunday night.  Unfortunately for the Dons (4-2-0), the large crowd witnessed the third ranked Stanford Cardinal (5-0-0) score early and often as USF fell to Stanford 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The capacity crowd was barely all in their seats when the third ranked Cardinal scored the first of two early goals.  Stanford's Catarina Macario notched her seventh goal of the season taking a pass in space and sending it past Camera 1:50 seconds into the game.  Ten minutes later the Cardinal doubled up on the Dons when a quick counter by Carly Malatskey off the feed from Belle Briede was sent to the back of the net.

• At the half, the Cardinal boasted a 4-0 lead.  Stanford outshot the Dons 10-3 in the first half.  USF's lone shot on goal in the opening period game five minutes into the half when Cassidy George took a shot from the 25 yards out.

• The second half was also controlled by the Cardinal.  Stanford tallied 19 shots after the intermission to give them 29 on the night.  USF countered with two of their own.  Midway through the period Molly Eby subbed in for Olivia Camera and notched five saves.

NOTABLE NUMBERS
1:50:  The goal scored by Catarina Macario was the first, first half goal allowed by the Dons this season. USF had held their five previous opponents scoreless in the first 45 minutes.
2: The two shots on goal are a season-low by the Dons.
25: The number of players who saw action tonight for the Dons was a season-high. Eby made her 2019 debut and Kaylin Lunsford made her collegiate debut.
