WBB | USF Travels to Stockton to Take on the Tigers

The University of San Francisco women's basketball is returns to the road on Thursday, traveling to Stockton, Calif., where they will take on host Pacific.  Thursday's game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m. and will be streamed on the WCC Network.  George Devine will have the Dons radio broadcast on the Dons Audio Network which can be accessed on the women's basketball schedule page.

LAST TIME OUT
The Dons fell to 0-3 in West Coast Conference play Monday after falling to visiting Loyola Marymount 72-55.  The Dons trailed the Lions by 12 at the half.  Out of the break a 15-5 run by the Dons cut the deficit to 2, 42-40 before the Lions were able to pull away.  The Dons had three players in double figures and were led by WCC Freshman of the Week Ioanna Krimili who had 15. 
 
A WIN WOULD MEAN...
• The Dons would improve to 2-4 following a loss.
• Improve the Dons to 3-4 on the road this year
• Give Goodenbour her 300th career win at all levels.
• Give the Dons their first win of the new year. The Dons are 0-1 this season and 9-23 in January under Goodenbour.
• Give the Dons a two-game winning streak against the Tigers
• Improve USF to 25-20 all-time against the Tigers.
• Improve the Dons to 5-5 on the year and 1-3 in the WCC.
 
THE SERIES
Thursday is the 45th time the Dons and Tigers have squared off.  All-time USF owns a 24-20 advantage in the series that goes back to Dec. 9, 1975 with USF winning on the road 36-23.  Since Pacific joined the West Coast Conference in 2013-14, they have gone 8-7 against the Dons.  Last year the two teams split the season series with the visiting coming away with the win both times.  The last time out, USF ended a three-game losing streak at the hands of the Tigers, defeating Pacific 67-61 at the Alex G. Spanos Center on Feb. 27, 2020.
 
SCOUTING REPORT: PACIFIC TIGERS
Thursday is just Pacific's sixth game of the season. The Tigers cancelled their first four contests due to COVID-19.  They opened the year with a 104-61 loss at the hands of No. 1 Stanford.  They went on to win three-straight including a w 73-64 win over LSU in Las Vegas. Last timeout they lost to No. 21 Gonzaga 79-59 on Monday.  As a team, they are averaging 69.9 points per game, while shooting 39.5 percent from the field.  Their opponents are averaging 78.4 points per contest while shooting 42.1 percent from the floor. Two players are averaging in double figures for the Tigers and are led by redshirt senior guard Valerie Higgins, who is averaging 16.8 points per contest.
 
NEXT UP
The Dons will remain on the road this weekend, making the short trip to Moraga, Calif., where they will take on the Gaels. Saturday's tipoff was moved to 11:00 a.m. The game will be streamed on the WCC Network, George Devine will have the Dons radio broadcast.
